Sunday 26th July
Somehow there are always travel partner - I find that very great, yet I was almost never really alone.
So I went with two of the French women from the camp to Chiang May, a culturally significant city in northern Thailand. After we had checked into the hostel, we took a tour through the Old Town. First we walked through a street market until we arrived at a temple complex.
in Thailand and especially in the temples there to follow some basic rules (such as taking off your shoes) that you can read here.
Very close gabs on this day the Sunday Market, where it is almost impossible to find a souvenir. The selection is truly enormous, making it an almost hard to make the right choice.
A pretty little Thai dancer:
(For more * g *) Thai food: various insects (special attention to "Mackerel" please)
On the way we passed a booth where you could for a voluntary donation blossom water over a Buddha statue empty. Is said to bring good luck, so I've tried the same.
Finally, we were also the largest and most important temple over in Chiang Mai. What one does not see in this picture, but really funny is: From the foot of the Temple leads a tightrope to the top. And you can also make a small donation and then blossom water drawn over the top rope and poured over the top of the temple, for the same purpose as that of the Buddha before.
The Buddha statues, there are always times 3 basic positions: lying, in the lotus position or standing:
Then There Were Thai food with Singha beer, probably the best beer in Thailand:
What is also very pleasant, one must never take long to find a place for massage.
Next we went to the seemingly endless Sunday Market along with a huge variety of souvenirs. Who will not find it there ...
Monday:
After a long sleep after the grueling last few nights we met at breakfast in the hotel is the newly arrived Englishwoman know Sharon, who likes to during our trip to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, a temple on a mountain 15 km outside the joined this city. On the road we stopped at the first taxi, with these red taxis in Chiang Mai are the cheapest option. However, one has always negotiate the price first, because the drivers usually require first a ridiculously high price (at least for Thai staff), which can be often at half or even less to bargain.
came at lunch on the Temple Mount suddenly an elephant down the steps, what we are very amused.
When I was at the foot of the steps to the temple up to shoot a photo of me, had slipped in unnoticed, two English tourists in the photo.
gabs from above then a terrace with beautiful views of the city of Chiang Mai:
Ritual bells.
On the way back I bought a bag of fried bananas are delicious, especially since bananas really a great taste, intense different than ours home.
Back in Chiang Mai we wandered a bit through the streets to find a nice café for a coffee or smoothie. And what a coincidence, the moment where we just found a nice place for us came from the work of Niels opposite camp. The cafe was in fact also a Guest House, where had the same Niels nested. Coincidence or destiny?
After a refreshing shake, we were looking at a massage parlor, where we could knead our limbs from around the legwork for the brave Thai-style, for others a simple oil massage.
dinner we had in the vicinity the night market and then we went to the tuk-tuk back to the hostel. For me, threw the first time with the tuk-tuk and I was already excited from the first time.
spent the rest of the evening we still comfortable in the Hostel in the garden. Next stop: Bangkok!
